Two board positions are up for election. Three candidates will appear on the ballot. Merrill Harp and two incumbants, Cindy Morton and Kaj Overstreet.
On March 10, the Sunray ISD School Board passed a resolution to call a special bond election for voters to consider a $7,325,000 bond measure. If the bond measure passes, the scope of the work being considered includes possible construction of science laboratories at the middle school and high school. Also at the high school, possible construction/renovations include the library/media center, high school entrance and offices, FCCLA classroom and gymnasium. This proposed project, if approved by the voters, would provide the District with science laboratories, high school media center, domestic and commercial food service experiences in FCCLA. The gymnasium would expand seating for basketball games, graduation and other school and community events. A new high school entrance will route visitors directly to the campus secretary.
