What a way to end the month of January with 10 plus inches of snow and it sounds like more is on the way.  We will have to make up the school day that we missed on Friday, January 29.   The make-up day will be decided in the near future.  When the make-up day is scheduled, we will send the date out to the parent e-mail list and in Wednesday folders.

The PTO scrimmage has been tentatively scheduled for Saturday, February 20.  We are sorry if it causes any incovenience.  The PTO Tournament is set for February 25-27 at the high school.  The kids are looking forward to playing in the tournament.

The last PIPS performance for the year is Friday, February 5.  The high school is playing West Texas.  The PIPS will have two performances at the halftime of the girls and boys games.  I would like to thank Starla Smith, Sharly Seiler, Pam Williams, Mary Jean Jones, and Barbara Miller for helping with the PIPS program.  I encourage all students in grades KG-6th grade to participate in this program because it does help the child develop the basic fundamentals of basketball.

In the year 2011-2012 the STARR Test will replace the TAKS test.  School ratings will be suspended for in 2012 while a new accountability system is developed.  The new tests will be significantly more rigorous than the previous tests and will measure a child's performance which includes academic growth.
