As we come to this time of the year, many of us begin to think about spending time with our family and friends, taking a break from school, sleeping in, in our nice warm beds, getting presents and eating a lot of good food during the holiday season. However, not everyone in our community is fortunate enough to have family and friends to spend this time with nor do they have the resources to give to their families presents, festive meals and such during this season. For many this time is very stressful because of the expectations that are associated with the season that have been produced by the media and others. Because of this, I would like to encourage each of us who have been blessed with abundance, who have lots of family and friends and who have the ability to buy presents and food for festive celebrations to take the time to care and give to someone who is less fortunate than we might be at this time. I would like for us to look around and find someone or some family to spend this season with and maybe invite them to be a part of our celebrations. Not only will this go a long ways as a blessing to those that you might help, but it will also be a lesson to teach our children the old saying: "Tis More Blessed to Give than to Receive."
Have a very Merry Holiday Season and we will look forward to 2008 and what the new year has is store for Sunray ISD.
