Arkansas Authors to Visit Sunray Elementary Dave and Pat Sargent

On Tuesday, April 3, Sunray Elementary Students will have the opportunity to meet and hear Ozark Publishing’s authors, Arkansans Dave and Pat Sargent.The program will begin at in the Middle School Library.
A black and tan coonhound named Barney the Bear Killer saved Pat's life when she was eight years old. She has a scar on the left side of her face to back-up the vivid story she related to students.

Dave Sargent was born and raised in Arkansas near the small farming community of Prairie Grove.From successful dairy farmer to yogurt entrepreneur, he has never let anything restrict him from accomplishing his dreams and goals.Dave has inverted-mirror vision, a severe form of dyslexia. Through hard work and dedication, he has learned to cope with and compensate for his handicap and has become a wonderfully successful author.When speaking to others about his experiences, Dave uses motivation as the main thrust of his talks.Using personal anecdotes, he is able to uniquely relate to children of all ages, as well as adults.Dave motivates and shows the importance of learning to read and write to those with learning imparities or physical handicaps and those students who don’t see “the use” in learning and educating themselves
Dave and Pat’s highly interesting and informative talks are sure to teach our children how books are made and how to make a story interesting.They are story-tellers and they get children interested in reading and writing.They have positive reinforcement for children and help them find their niche in the writing world.Dave and Pat’s stories will show the children that anyone can be an author and that authors can be real people, just like them.
Dave and Pat’s books will be on display and they will autograph books purchased by the students.Cash or personal check made to Ozark Publishing will be accepted.
