Have your kids ever been home doing homework late in the evening when the school doors are locked and said things like, “I need a Spanish-English dictionary to finish this assignment.” Or, “I need a current event for my history class tomorrow. Don’t we have a newspaper or current magazines around here somewhere?” Well, there is help for situations like these. The Sunray ISD website ( www.sunrayisd.net ) has a great resource for students and parents. Go to the website, click on the student section on the top toolbar, and scroll down to homework help. There you will find a wealth of information to help with almost any assignment that students might have. For that current event look under Today’s News. To get help with a foreign language assignment, look under Dictionaries: Languages.

There are all types of reference materials under this section: encyclopedias, magazines, newspapers, book reviews, thesauri, dictionaries. The dictionary section has all sorts of specialized dictionaries—medical, music, languages, music, etc. The core-area subjects each have a wealth of materials under their sections that could be of help to students. The fine arts have sections, too. There are music, art, and literature sections. The library section under homework help can hook students up to libraries such as the Library of Congress. There is a great section called Outstanding Books for the College Bound.
