Welcome Back
Sunray Middle School
Well students are back and eager to learn. Well, they are back. It may take a while for the second thing to take hold. Change is hard and it was a long summer. The students would like to sleep in some more, but they still show up with their smiling faces. That goes the same for our teachers.
We are back in session and the students are doing well. We have a couple of new faces at Sunray Middle School, and they are fitting in great. Rissa Lewis is teaching our 7-8 math classes, she comes to us from Stinnett where she raised her family. We also have a new face in the Learning Lab (Bobcat breakout), Samantha Baker. She comes to us from Dumas. They are both quality educators and people. We are very fortunate to have them.
7th and 8th graders are beginning football and cross country and are preparing for their first contest. This is an exciting experience for all of the students. It is also an experience for all of the coaches as well.
Our bands have geared up as well. Our 5-8 grade bands have begun practice and will be playing songs that we can recognize in no time.
We have a few school changes as well. Over the summer, the 5-8 grade teachers along with some assistance from Valero volunteers painted the school and it looks great. The lights in the hallway have been replaced to make for better visibility. And a big change for the school is the way that the students will be picked up and dropped off in front of the school.
All of these changes will be discussed on the night of the 3rd of September at 6:00 at Parent Teacher Night. We invite all to come and visit with us and listen to each teacher introduce themselves and tell a little about their class expectations.
